Bro. David’s Notes

Luke 19:5 says, “And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, ‘Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for I must stay at your house today.’” Allow your mind to use a bit of imagination for just a moment. If you were in the place of Zacchaeus on that first century day, what would have gone through your mind as Jesus spoke the words of that verse? Please allow me to ponder what would have gone through my mind on that day. If I were there and Jesus spoke these words to me, then I would not have believed that Jesus called me out. I then would have thought about Jesus visiting my house. What does the grass in the yard at my house look like? Are there any dog toys out of place in the living room? Does Jesus like indoor dogs or would He think that dogs belong outside? Since Jesus is coming to my house then I’ll have to prepare dinner for Him. What should I cook for Jesus? What would the conversation around the dinner table be? Should I tell Jesus a joke? Honestly, the most important thing was that Jesus wanted to spend time with Zacchaeus. Jesus wants the same with you. He wants to spend time with you.

In Christ,

Dr. David
